Ils augmentent la présence des enfants et des familles dans la communauté, car une concentration géographique plus étroite favorise la marche vers et depuis l'école, et en s'associant avec des terrains de jeux, des jardins et d'autres espaces civiques locaux qui seraient autrement sur place dans de plus grandes institutions. Nous élargissons notre définition des « parties prenantes » au-delà des familles que nous servons directement, et nous travaillons pour rendre nos communautés environnantes plus fortes et plus saines pour les enfants.
How do we envision Montessori at Alyssum?
Because children are intrinsically motivated to blossom in a beautiful, uncluttered, multi-age learning environment, we surround ourselves with a nature-inspired interior which nurtures the mind and spirit and provides children a sense of calm conducive to learning.

Bimonthly Forest School Experiences for grades K-6
Alyssum offers unique experiences for our K-6 grade students with bi-monthly, off-site Forest
School days. The goal of this program is to grow independence, problem solving skills and an appreciation for being immersed in nature.

Lessons with "Artists in Residence"
Alyssum works with local artists and experts to bring new creativity, skills, and expertise into the classroom, as well as joining them out in the community. In past years, classes have partnered with Fort Wayne Clay, Tek Venture, Pearl Arts Music Center, and the YMCA. Students have also joined local naturalists at Deer Run Wilderness Area, Franke Park, Metea County Park, Lindenwood Nature Preserve, and the Botanical Conservatory. Fort Wayne has a rich community of creatives, and Alyssum would love to learn from them all!

Montessori Model United Nations for 6th grade students
A unique program that supports young minds to become world changers on a global scale.
Montessori Model United Nations takes place in February or March in New York city. 6th graders enjoy visiting this iconic city in between their work as "UN Delegates".
